well the issue is quite a serious one and the grae political and economic scientist have wriiten many thesis, books, drafts etc to prove their point of view.but i am not going into those academic issues.looking from my perspective and a common middle class persons perspective let us try to analyse the effects of globalization in very simple terms(i am not trying to make any conclusive remarks but only trying to say what i feel)
1)mobile phones:may be some years back it was a priced possession which only the rich could afford.but whats the scenario today.everyone has a mobile phone.the only difference lies on the set we have and its cost.but basically everyone has it.so in a way it shows equality as well as inequality.but i think it puts all thepeople at par as far as the use of a tool of telecommunication is concerned.
2)television sets)well may be 20years back fewer ppl had television and colour television was a luxury.but glaobalization has made them so affordabe.in this case also the difference only being that the rich can flaunt with their sony bravia lcd whereas the middle and the lower middle class people can have an ok flat scrren 21 inch colour tv.but everyone gets to watch a colour tv!(my mom used to tell me that in the 80s very few ppl had tv at their home and even my mom used to go to mu mausis place to watch sunday movie telecasted on television !!)
but their is one more issue that sometimes pinches me .that is that with the flood of everything in era of glaobalization the excitement and craving for things that we used to have previously has somewhat vanished.may be we enjoyed those good movies that were sometime aired on doordarshan much more than now when everyday movie channels show those movies!!somewhere the feeling of joy has subsided.
